3d jewellery design is the art or profession of designing or rendering designs for jewelry in a 3d environment. The ancient practice of the goldsmith or metalworker evolved to a billion-dollar industry with the odyssey from ancient techniques into the machine age where computers are being used in the design of jewelry. It is easy with the use of CAD Model software to create "functional art", being art that can be worn or used.

How is the CAD Model important today?

Before an article of jewellery is created, it is typically rendered by a 3d jewellery designer, a professional who is trained in the architectural and functional knowledge of not only metallurgy but also design elements such as composition and wearability.

Once the article is rendered, the design is then constructed using the needed materials for proper adaptation to the function of the item. For example, 24K Gold was used in ancient 3d jewelry modell because it was more available than silver as source material. Before the 1st century many civilizations also incorporated beads into jewellery. Once the discovery of gemstones and gem cutting became more readily available, 2. the art of jewellery ornamentation and design shifted. The earliest documented gemstone cut was done by Theophilus Presbyter (c.1070 - 1125). who practiced and established many applied arts and was a known goldsmith. Later, during the 14th Century, medieval lapidary techniques evolved to include cabochons and cameos.

Early 3d jewellery design commissions were often constituted by nobility or the church to honor an event or as wearable ornamentation. Within the structure of early methods, enameling and repoussé became standard methods for creating ornamental wares to demonstrate wealth, position, or power. These early techniques created a specific complex design element that later would forge the baroque element in 3d jewelry design.

Surveys show that over 80% of a CAD designer's time is spent editing and creating geometry. Therefore the new tools that allow you to design products the way you want, using the tools that you feel are most appropriate.

The world is moving at an increasingly faster pace. One needs to create the right, innovative products, and get them to market faster than the competition – even when your design team is scattered around the world.

That is why designers  platform is so important for the jewelry industry. We deliver the newest designs in the shortest development time since a great number of designers are contributing to the industry
